This award is not merely a recognition of past achievement; it is a constitutional mandate that celebrates leadership as a bridge between Australian values and social cohesion through cross-cultural advocacy.
Following the launch at Parliament House on 14 October 2025, Monica Tudehope MP, Member for Epping, delivered a formal Recognition Statement honoring Aiden Ek as the Network’s inaugural recipient of the MKA.

In accordance with our Constitution, we also honor tertiary students, eminent leaders and elected officials who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to social cohesion and our shared democratic principles.
The Hon. Michael Kirby AC CMG, former Justice of the High Court of Australia, officially launched the MKA at Parliament House on 14 October 2025. This milestone was subsequently honored by a motion passed in the New South Wales Legislative Council on 12 November 2025.


As a Class 3 Award, the MKA signifies the highest level of service. It is conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated a rare ability to lead with both intellect and empathy.
Recipients embody the mentorship, courage, compassion, clarity, and commitment to human rights that Justice Kirby championed throughout his career.
